Sourdough Baking
Sourdough baking is an ancient method of bread-making that has gained popularity in recent years due to its unique flavor and texture. Unlike bread made with commercial yeast, this bread is made using a live culture of wild yeast, acetic acid bacteria, and lactobacilli, which gives it a tangy flavor and a chewy, moist crumb. I began my sourdough baking journey for my daughter, who is gluten intolerant (not celiac). While this bread is not gluten-free, the fermentation process makes the gluten easier to digest, making it suitable for her dietary needs.
Baking sourdough bread requires patience and practice, but after several months of attempts, I am now able to consistently bake good loaves. I have also customized conventional Indian recipes like paratha to create a sourdough version. From the easiest no-knead sourdough bread to the eye-catching charcoal bread, you can find them all here. Join me on my baking journey as I create beautiful, healthy, and nourishing bread.
