Indian Spiced Pumpkin Chai Latte

A pumpkin chai latte is a drink that combines the flavors of pumpkin spice and chai tea. It is typically made with pumpkin puree, chai tea, milk, and spices.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoon black tea or 2 tea bags
  • ¼ cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 tablespoon sweetener
  • 1 cup water

Make pumpkin chai concentrate:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine black tea, water, pumpkin puree, sweetener, ginger, and spices (cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ground nutmeg, black pepper).
  • Mix everything well and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally.
  • Turn off the heat and strain the mixture using a fine-mesh sieve. This will give you around one cup of pumpkin chai concentrate.

Make pumpkin chai latte:

  • Divide the chai concentrate into two mugs.
  • In another small saucepan, heat milk until it is steaming. Do not boil the milk.
  • Once the milk is hot, froth it well using a milk foamer.
  • Pour hot milk over the concentrate. Top with ground cinnamon and serve.

Notes

Use real pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin pie filling contains added sugar and spices, which can alter the taste of the latte.
Adjust the amount of pumpkin puree, sweetener, and spices to your liking. You can also use different types of milk, such as almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk.
For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of skim milk.
To froth the milk, you can use a milk frother, French press, or even just a whisk. If you don't have a milk frother, simply heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it's steaming. Then, whisk it vigorously until it's frothy.
