Crisp alert! This Indian-style air fryer okra is so easy to make and is crunchy, light, and the perfect way to enjoy okra. Popularly called kurkuri bhindi, which literally translates to crispy okra, this Indian okra recipe will be your new favorite!
Let’s get started!
Rinse okra. Pat dry. Remove crown and bottom. Cut lengthwise in 4 parts. To avoid slime, make sure okra is fully dry before cutting.
Season okra with garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, chaat masala, oil, lemon juice and salt.
Sprinkle besan (chickpea flour) and mix gently. No need to add water. Besan will stick to the okra juices. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Brush air fryer basket with oil. Place okra in a single layer. You may have to air fry in batches.
Air fry okra at 350 F (180 C) for 12-15 minutes. Shake the basket once midway.
