Ingredients 2 cup whole masoor dal (brown lentils) 2 tablespoon oil 1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1 large onion finely chopped 1 inch ginger grated 2 cloves garlic grated 1 green chilli finely chopped 1 large tomato finely chopped ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon coriander powder ½ teaspoon chilli powder ½ teaspoon garam masala 1 tablespoon Kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves) 2 tablespoon lemon juice 2 tablespoon coriander leaves Salt to taste

Set the Instant Pot to saute mode and add oil. Add cumin seeds and saute for few seconds

Once the cumin splutters, add onion and fry for 2 minutes

Add ginger, garlic, and green chilli. Saute for one more minute

Add chopped tomato, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well

Add ¼ cup water. Cover and let the tomatoes cook for 2 minutes

Add the washed brown lentils

Add 6 cups water and mix well. Close the lid of the Instant Pot and pressure cook for 20 minutes

Do a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then do a quick release. Open the cover

Add garam masala, kasuri methi

Add lemon juice. Garnish with coriander leaves

Serve with steamed rice
